NW Live Arts is pleased to share films from Finding My Voice.
Filmed at Kings Place Hall 2 on Friday 30 September 2022, Finding My Voice was a journey of solos, ensemble pieces and improvisations led by each of the musicians, exploring wide-ranging influences from the West African Griot tradition, Punjabi music from India, Western European classical music and folk music from Europe and the Middle East. Interwoven with this were the powerful, specially-written texts of poetry and song spoken and sung by their authors – from Freedom From Torture’s Write to Life group – adding further cultural references from Iran and South Africa.
Released weekly, in bite-sized chunks, the three sets offer audiences the chance to watch the whole concert from the comfort of their own homes.

Support our mission
Our aim is to address social and environmental issues creatively in concerts and workshops working with highly acclaimed professional musicians from different cultures together with writers from under represented communities. Our mission is to inspire greater empathy and understanding of these issues through the power of music and the arts.
We’re happy to offer these films to everyone to watch for free because we believe everyone should have access to professional music no matter their circumstances. If you are in the fortunate position to be able to make a donation to support our work, we’d be very grateful. As a Registered Charity (No 1185485), we can’t do what we do without the support of individuals just like you.
