Announcing Soundscapes from the Planet
We are thrilled to announce our first concert of 2023, Soundscapes from the Planet, on Thursday 16 March, a creative look at the impact of Climate Change at Arts Depot Finchley.
In this concert, five world-class musicians join with local storytellers to present a dynamic programme of stories and music with wide-ranging cultural influences from Cornwall to South Korea and West Africa, featuring Bach, Debussy new composition, improvisation and repertoire for Korean and Western flutes, kora, cello, and percussion.
Artistic Director, Caroline Heslop said “We begin 2023 with a very exciting project in collaboration with Arts Depot Finchley. Working with a fabulous line up of Dr Hyelim Kim (taegum), Rosie Bowker (baroque and modern flutes), Colin Alexander (cello), Sunto Susso (kora) and James Larter (percussion) together with storytellers from the Arts Depot community, we will create a programme of music and storytelling exploring the impact of climate change and the power the planet has to restore if we will let it.
“Hyelim, who is an in-demand Korean flute player, a great ambassador for traditional Korean music and also a very talented composer, is writing a specially commissioned new piece for the ensemble for this concert.”
