Pianist, Christina MacMaster talks to NW Live Art’s Artistic Director ahead of the Belonging Concert, part of the Music & Place series, on Friday 21 May 2021. They discuss Christina’s training and career plus the importance creativity and well-being has in the world today.

Christina joins musicians Toby Carr (lute, theorbo and baroque guitar), Attab Haddad (oud) and Antonio Romero for a programme exploring identity and our sense of place in the world. Interwoven with the music are readings from Write to Life, the acclaimed writing and performance group from Freedom from Torture. Together with the musicians they celebrate the distinctive nature of each individual contribution, and the special magic that happens when many traditions come together. She has performed nationally and internationally with broadcasts and live performances on BBC Radio 3. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Joanna MacGregor where she learnt and cultivated the art of creative programming. Christina is a truly creative spirit, collaborating with a whole host of artists and industries from folk musicians, such as Peggy Seeger, to scientists at King’s College London and visual artists.
