Announcing Soundings from the Planet
NW Live Arts has announced its next concert will be called Soundings from the Planet. It will take place on Thursday 23 November 2023 at Kings Place.
In the performance, which will feature NW Live Arts’ characteristic blend of intelligently programmed music from across many cultures combined with thought-provoking storytelling, musicians and storytellers will come together to consider the impact of climate change.
The dynamic musicians – Hyelim Kim (taegum), Colin Alexander (cello), James Larter (percussion), Suntou Susso (kora), Tuulia Hero (violin), Catharina Feyen (double bass), Adaya Peled-Malka (soprano) and Will Bracken (piano) – will explore the sounds of our planet.
They will perform music written about the air, sea, sky, forests and landscapes in a programme which will set composers such as Bach, Bartok and Messiaen alongside free improvisation, new composition and music from West Africa and South Korea. Sharing the stage, creative storytellers from the local community will join the musical conversation asking us to value our connections to nature and find a way to let the planet restore.
Tickets for Soundings from the Planet are on sale now.
NW Live Arts is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Soundings from the Planet is supported by Marchus Trust and Helen Roll Charity.
